hey yoshii -- this is taro of the late 4scrape. I've got a spare FreeBSD server hosted at 100tb.com. How much disk are you currently using? If nothing else, I can host static content.

Gimme a public key and I'll give you a jail on the machine.

yeah i ran outa disk space so i stopped the crawler task. i can still manually instigate updates, reckon i got one scrape left - then it's bye bye hard disk.
might get a new host, maybe OVH but i been putting it off because there are good alternatives for scrapers right now so i thought it was pointless.

so does this thing not update anymore? it doesn't seem to have loaded any new wallpapers in months

Sublime work with this site, yohsii. It´s a great site, the shame is the great lack of tags. I´m sure that won´t be a problem as soon as more people come to know this site, but... is there any way to separate the searches in different pages? The scroll thing is good, but you end up with a giant page filled with hundred of thumbnails.

can't search what isn't tagged right? would help if 4channers put decent comments in their posts.
also, it's a cumalative search so it is a combination of the text u type in and the drop down menus.
it might be best to leave the drop down menus to "any" to get more results - if finding something spefic is more important to you than the image attributes.

that said, i am looking at alternatives to mysql full text features. if i ever get a new server and can run this operation on a bigger scale - i will add shiny new stuff

The search engine is pretty sketchy. Not a lot of the wallpapers being searched for have tags, so even common words come up with maybe one or two options.

too true, the links to images in detail view are horribly long.
it's an optimisation to prevent a trip to the database - just pass the image properties in the url.
i'm taking a u-turn on that design decision. will change soon

I like the look of this site but it seems hard to grab the wallpapers as they scroll across the page.

oh and some feedback would be nice in terms of how this site compares with other wallpaper/scraper sites and what could be improved etc :}

scraper news: lol i fortunately noticed that 4chan had changed their domain setup/html the same day it happened so i quickly modified the scraper to deal with the changes.
this doesnt count for much though, since the HD space is now critically low! im talkin just below 90%!

ty, and im glad the users are back, server stats have been picking up alot lately. about the hosting service, i would like to migrate to something with more hd space so that i could build up a huuuuge archive of nice walls so i might introduce a donation button soon :)
about new features; been working on some javascript widgets and the backend is pretty much prepped for user features ive just been dreading all the user interface stuff, not really my forte. will get over that soon i think and introduce a main page and user page blah blah.
also you might have noticed but im not scraping /w/ atm because its full of cp and generally embarrassing stuff :/ the scraper is generic and can scrape anything from 4chan so i will introduce high rez board if i do end up migrating to better host.
quick note on content filter - right now the state of the "content" drop down menu affects ur form searches and also the "similar" searches from iqdb but not "related" or "thread" :x. needless to say u should watch out for that if peekin this site from somewhere public. will fix soon.
oh and piespy over at iqdb has kindly offered to index this site so should have "similar" results not only externally (ie results from danbooru, sankaku complex etc) but also internal matches from this site, hopefully next week.

Glad to see the site is back. I was afraid that it went down like the other scrapers ive been using. Are you planing to have a donation link or something? maybe ads or something to help with the costs of upkeep or something? Would hate to see the site go down cuz of that.

yaknow this site was supposed to mimic an OS environment with folders, chat and scrape program where everything was draggable etc. in the end i just took the scraper and pushed everythin else to the side. might bring that stuff back.

yeah about that.... know of any decent uk hosts on the cheap with good HD allowance? im running this on a bare bones service, i dont think the hd will take more than 15k images. gonna continue scraping till it reaches the limit though
